Nobu is coming to Portugal, this time with a Monte Rei resort in the Eastern Algarve. The new hotel, branded residences, restaurant, and villas are scheduled to open for guests in 2029.
Nobu Hospitality is one of the world’s leading luxury hospitality brands and a major pull for foreign property investors. For Portugal, this upcoming development can benefit the country’s high-end tourism and exclusive real estate investments.
Here’s all you need to know about Nobu’s expansion into Portugal and its global projects.
Nobu to Open a New Resort in Portugal’s Eastern Algarve

Nobu plans to launch a new hotel, residential units, and a restaurant in Portugal’s Eastern Algarve at the Monte Rei resort. Scheduled to open in 2029, this would be the brand’s second location in Portugal.
The first Nobu Hotel and Restaurant in Portugal is planned at the very heart of Lisbon, on the famous Avenida da Liberdade. The Nobu Hotel in Lisbon is expected to welcome guests in 2027, but there is no official launch date yet.
The Algarve project is set to begin construction in 2027 and will have a signature Nobu restaurant, 21 square meters of Nobu-branded villas and residences, and a Nobu Hotel with 100 rooms.
The Nobu Hotel will be built on a massive 1,000+ acre plot of land in the beautiful Algarve countryside. To top it all off, the luxury development will center on a golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus, a famous golf player and course designer.
Designed by Rockwell Group together with DSA Architects and in partnership with Norfin, the Monte Rei project would create a completely unique Nobu destination that depicts some of the Algarve’s best qualities.
Nobu Hospitably: Global Expansion Plans
The Algarve Monte Rei development is the latest project that Nobu launched in Europe.
When it comes to hotels, the brand already has properties in top locations like Rome, London, Ibiza, Barcelona, San Sebastian, Warsaw, and Marbella.
On 1 September 2026, Nobu opened in Madrid, with upcoming grand openings in Kraków and Hamburg.
Nobu also plans to launch its first countryside retreat in Rutland, England, with not-yet-open residences in Montenegro and Amsterdam.
What does the Nobu project mean for property buyers?
Monte Rei is already popular with high-net-worth buyers and lifestyle investors. But with Nobu in Portugal, we could be looking at something even bigger: The country’s rising appeal for luxury developers in the long term.
Branded residences in Portugal are a major pull for real estate investors. They don’t just buy a home; they get access to a lifestyle asset that’s built around leisure, services, and the Nobu hospitality brand.
For foreign buyers, the Nobu project, alongside the warm weather, international airport, and coastal living, makes Portugal’s luxury real estate market a valuable asset for capital appreciation and wealth preservation.
