The bustling, hip neighborhood of Intendente has changed a lot over the past few years. Despite its central location, the area spent years languishing with many of its historic buildings falling into disrepair. Cheap Intendente real estate, as well as the area’s multicultural communities have been a draw for many, and a new, young crowd has moved in, supporting a growing network of trendy bars, cafes, co-working centers, and community spaces.

The neighborhood has a more relaxed vibe than the frenetic pace of areas such as Bairro Alto or Chiado. It can also be a better fit for families, as there are more spacious apartments available with elevators, and it is also flatter than other areas of the city, with good transport links.

Why Intendente real estate?

Quirky bars, cool restaurants, and vintage markets, Intendente is one of the most happening neighborhoods in the Portuguese capital. It falls inside the Arroios freguesia (city district), which was recently named by Timeout as the coolest neighborhood in the world, a title that is justly deserved.

Intendente is one of the most exciting neighborhoods in Lisbon at the moment and has a number of interesting projects in the works, including a large cultural center in the former Desterro Hospital. The new center will reportedly be home to a number of small businesses, similar to the existing Lx Factory in Alcantara. People will be able to work, party and even grow vegetables.
