The bustling, hip neighborhood of Intendente has changed a lot over the past few years. Despite its central location, the area spent years languishing with many of its historic buildings falling into disrepair. The neighborhood has a more relaxed vibe than the frenetic pace of areas such as Bairro Alto or Chiado. It can also be a better fit for families, as there are more spacious apartments available with elevators, and it is also flatter than other areas of the city, with good transport links.
